Manuela Janda, M.Sc.

Trauma- & Psychotherapist, working in German and English

My approach

As a Gestalt Therapist, my orientation is primarily humanistic and experimental. That means I focus on present experiences and anchor them in bodily sensations and awareness. In this secure and stable setting, clients are able to reflect on their thoughts, feelings and past experiences. I want to support you in developing mindfulness and finding healthy ways to move forward. Working as a therapist allows me to do what I love the most, which is to be present with others in a supportive way and offer the guidance and tools my clients need to better respond to challenges in their lives.

Psychotherapy

My main intention as a Psychotherapist is to create an environment that reflects warmth, sympathy and acceptance. In this safe environment you can open up, get to know yourself and reflect upon thoughts, emotions and experiences. At the beginning of our journey, I want to take time to know you by determining where actually you are in life right now, which situations your are confronted with and which emotions you are experiencing. I want to support you in developing mindfulness and finding healthy ways to move forward.

Trauma & Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a body awareness approach to healing trauma. After traumatic experiences, the nervous system can become chronically over or under active. Symptoms can include anxiety, depression, chronic pain, nightmares, numbness, irritable bowel syndrome, headache, etc. Somatic Experiencing addresses the root cause of trauma symptoms. This is approached by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for body sensations and suppressed emotions.

Supervision

Supervision is a necessary support for clinical practice. Based on my years long experience working in this field, I provide supervision for therapists and counsellors. I can help you better understand clinical cases and allow you to reflect on your therapeutic situation and challenges.

Experience

My journey as a therapist started in 1998. Over the past two decades I have constantly expanded my knowledge by training in Somatic Experiencing (certified SEP therapist) , Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Integrative Body Therapy, Brain spotting, mindfulness and more. In Vienna, I completed a Master of Science of Psychotherapy in Gestalt Therapy and Counselling at the Sigmund Freud University. In order to deepen my knowledge and remain effective, I take part in trainings several times a year and attend regular therapy supervision.
